Position Overview

The Human Resources Generalist will play a key role in providing high standards of people excellence through executional support to the HR Manager and broader HR Team on assigned people process and programs.  People matters include, but are not limited to: benefits, payroll, monthly reporting, on and off boarding, employee file retention and management, performance management and training and development support. The HR Generalist uniquely partners with the HR Manager on facilitating people programs related to retention, performance reviews, and culture initiatives as part of their work. In order to succeed in this role, you need to be high energy, agile and unphased in a fastpaced creative environment. Demonstrating a high proficiency with tools including Excel, PowerPoint/Keynote, and the Microsoft Suite of tools is a plus.

 

Specific Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Payroll coordination/administration
    • Responsible for gathering and finalizing all New Hire paperwork for timely processing through payroll
    • Works in close partnership with HR Manager to prepare all paperwork for payroll submission
    • Works closely with new or exiting employees related to outstanding documents needed for accurate payroll processing
  • On-Boarding/Off-boarding
    • Oversees new employees’ entire welcome & onboarding experience:
    • Coordinates desk locations, IT equipment, moves, etc.
    • Coordinates and provides improvements for New Hire Onboarding program with oversight for meeting coordination, new hire binders (with Office Manager), Manager communications, etc.
    • Kick off pre-arrival communications and coordinating the collection and processing of all new hire paperwork
    • Greets new hires and coordinates onboarding plan with management
    • Ensure all onboarding paperwork is completed and packaged in time for payroll processing
    • Provides feedback on effectiveness of new hire orientation programs and processes and implements changes, as necessary
    • Oversees distribution of Survey Monkey and office communications for all offboarding employees
    • Conducts exit interviews with HR Manager; records feedback; analyzes data to identify areas for concerns that should be addressed; and suggests potential solutions
  • Benefits and 401k
    • Resident expert on company policies and benefits, proactively explains company policies, benefits, and procedures to employees when needed
    • Administers HR policies; fields employee questions
    • Assist HR Manager in administration of employee leaves and documentation such as FMLA, short-term disability, vacation, and other time off
    • Partners with HR Manager on Open/Annual Benefits Enrollment
  • Policy Interpretation
    • Manages vacation policies; pulling reports for managers, answering employee questions, and calculating vacation balances
    • Understands and is able explain UNLTD policies outlined in the employee handbook
    • Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action
  • Personnel Files
    • Create files for all new hire, on-call, intern and freelance employees and collect all new hire personnel-related documentation
    • Collects timesheets for flexible staff
    • Verifies I-9 documentation and ensures that I-9s are DOL audit ready
    • Assists with the creation of forms, including new hire & termination paperwork, promotion forms, etc.
  • Other:
    • Assists in preparing or editing of internal communication 
    • Performs other duties and special projects, as needed
    • Creates monthly personnel reports for team

Skills

  • 1-2 years Human Resources/recruiting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and/or equivalent experience
  • High proficiency in Excel, Keynote, PowerPoint and the rest of the MS Office Suite
